Readiness means resilience.

We started NeighborhoodReadiness by beginning with our own neighborhood. We were new here, and we wanted to get to know our neighbors. As introverts, we knew it was going to take effort. We had family, friends, and associates who lived in other neighborhoods, but it felt important to know the people we live closest to. We didn’t expect to become best friends or anything (we have made new friends in this process!), but we started with fliers going door to door. Today, we have a thriving group of more than a dozen active neighbors who meet and plan together. We’ve learned the ins and outs, the tough spots, the biggest challenges, as well as the greatest rewards.

Emergency preparedness is ultimately about resilience — the quiet, steady capacity to absorb shock and keep going. When you have water stored, a go-bag packed, flashlights charged, and a simple plan in place, you’re not just protecting yourself; you’re reducing strain on emergency systems and freeing up resources for those who truly can’t prepare. Readiness turns panic into action and isolation into connection. A household that can care for itself in the first hours or days after a disaster becomes a stabilizing force on the block — able to check on neighbors, share supplies, lend tools, and offer calm. Resilience spreads outward. When individuals prepare, communities recover faster, suffer fewer preventable harms, and emerge stronger together.

Our
Values

Calm

Readiness begins with steadiness. We believe preparation replaces panic with clarity, helping households meet uncertainty with confidence instead of fear.

Practical

IWe focus on realistic steps, shared skills, and thoughtful planning that make resilience tangible and achievable for everyday life.

Collective

Emergencies are experienced locally. In a crisis, the people beside you—your neighbors and friends down the block—are the ones you will rely on first.

Love in Action

Preparing together is an act of care. One of the most powerful gifts you can offer yourself and those you cherish is the commitment to be ready—side by side—before it matters most.
